Versailles, Urn with Landscape, 1989

I grew up in a suburb of Houston, Texas, in a neighborhood of cookie-cutter houses built in the 50s and 60s. Everything was new and modern, but not in a particularly interesting way. I remember the feeling of being in a very sterile environment. I longed to see something old, and with some history. As soon as I could I went to Europe, and I have returned many times since to take photographs.
